Swedish journalist: Margite Fransson, wrote in her article:
"Reconstruction of Sanski Most" (Sanski Most is a town in western
part of Bosnia, my comment), published in the paper Byggnads
arbetaren (Building Worker, issued biweekly by The Swedish
Building-workers Syndicate), No. 21 , 1997: p. 8
".. but locals have discovered a method for demining on their own
way, so called sheep-demining. They leet sheep go loose into the
insecure areas."

In El Salvador, pigs were used to find and detonate mines.

"During Iran's 1980-1988 war with Iraq. entire classes of boys were
brought to the front as "scouts" and sent forward over enemy minefields.
Tehran had previously used sheep, but decided even kids were to be
involved in the war effort."

In a report on Zimbabwe:
"Many people could not return to their villages and farms after their independence. Those who did pushed their cattle ahead to detonate the mines."
