The guerilla animal rights group - which is notorious for tactics such as throwing red paint on fur wearers - is planning a campaign against Osama bin Laden. Were also letting people know that if they buy these leather goods from Italy, they could be helping fund bin Ladens terrorism. "AS IF WE needed any other reason to hate this man, it turns out that he also runs tanneries," says PETA spokesman Dan Mathews. "He also uses dogs in his training camps to test nerve gas." Mathews, who will unveil his anti-Osama campaign shortly, says that bin Laden's tanneries have operated in Khartoum in the Sudan for 10 years, and leather from those tanneries is sent to Italy. The products are sometimes sold in the U.S. and the proceeds are used to support terrorist activities, he says. "In addition to launching a publicity campaign against bin Laden himself, we're also letting people know that if they buy these leather goods from Italy, they could be helping fund bin Laden's terrorism," says Mathews. "It's blood money that is used against both humans and animals."
